Prepping and FREEZING whole chickens for later. I remove tha necks and gizzards, season the birds inside and outside first then I bag them in 2 gallon zip bags. Remove all the air from the bags and stack both chickens into your IP stainless steel pot. Place the pot in the freezer. The chickens will freeze round.
When ready to cook, remove from the bag and lower your frozen chicken into the pot…Guaranteed to fit .
Never cook food in zip bags!!

Great idea!!! Or… season and freeze the birds (no bag) although you may want to oil the pot first for easy removal. Then bag the frozen bird and store. That way the plastic bag won’t get stuck in the nooks and crannies.
PS. I haven’t actually done this. Just thinking.

@xneedhelp I do the bag method for lots of foods, preseasoned and/or have the liquid marinade, placed in a good quality freezer bag and then freeze. If you’re worried about some sticking bits, just put the whole bag into a sink full of water while you’re getting everything ready for the meal, it won’t defrost it but will slide out of the bag easier when you’re ready to load the pot.
😁

One of the reasons why I love the Insta pot Rio wide everything fits. still don’t cook a whole chicken though as I love the Costco ones premade cheaper than you can buy an uncooked one.
