I fought the lid when I first bought mine! It didn't get stuck but I couldn't get it to latch on until I read that it had to be lined up a certain way.

@itcompelsyou that's a good reference too - I just checked it out. I did the trick of a spot of white-out or nail polish on the 2 arrow spots to line it up. Beginner YouTube videos are really good to learn the basics

In case anyone else has trouble with the lid, Lisa Childs of Tried Tested and True has a great video showing how to line up the lid for easy installation and removal. Here is the link to that video. Scroll to 4:03 and tip #9 for a very easy way!
